Bengaluru: The Congress has expressed curiosity on social media regarding the recent protest staged by Karnataka Transport Minister, asking why he needed to raise a voice against the ‘double engine’ government of his own party.
The minister protested overnight demanding the repair of the LLC canal of the bridge across River Vedavathi in Ballari district.
Sriramulu, who is also the district in-charge minister of Ballari, had warned that he would not move from the protest venue until the LLC canal was repaired so the water supply through it would commence.
The Karnataka unit of the Congress has taken the state government on its Twitter account on the matter.
“Have you (Sriramulu) protested against your own government and chief minister? Against your own prime minister? Why did a Cabinet need to protest against his own ‘double engine’ government? Is no one hearing you out? Then is this a government merely sidelining people?” the Congress has mocked on its account.

Shivamogga: A leopard was killed after being hit by a motorcycle near Mandagadde in Thirthahalli taluk of Shivamogga district.
According to reports, the biker was travelling from Shivamogga towards Thirthahalli when the leopard suddenly came onto the road from a nearby forest area near Mandagadde. The rider is said to have lost control of the bike and crashed into the animal.
The leopard suffered severe injuries in the impact and died on the spot. The biker also fell onto the road along with the motorcycle and sustained serious injuries. He was shifted to a hospital in Shivamogga for further treatment.
After receiving information about the incident, forest department officials, including Gajanur RFO Vinay Kumar, visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
