Chikkamagaluru: The residence of Congress leader and former MLC Gayathri Shanthe Gowda was reportedly raided by the Income Tax Department Thursday morning.
The IT officials arrived at the Congress leader’s residence on Market Road in Chikkamagaluru town in more than 10 vehicles, and checked the documents. It was also reported that the officials’ vehicles carried placards saying ‘Abhinav Weds Deepika’ to prevent rise of suspicion among onlookers.
The Department officials have raided the house of Gayathri Shanthe Gowda’s son-in-law Santhosh in Belur, Hassan district, also, sources said.
In the backdrop of the raid, Congress leaders are learned to have alleged, “Gayathri Shanthe Gowda’s house has been raided by the Income Tax Department officials as she is hoping for Congress ticket for the 2023 Assembly elections in Karnataka.”
They have also accused BJP leader C T Ravi of being the mastermind behind the raid on Thursday.

Mangaluru: Two girl students drowned while bathing near the Kolyadakatta dam area of the Gundya river on Friday evening here in the Kadaba Taluk of the district.
The deceased have been identified as Arpita (15) and Sunita (21), both residents of Vimalagiri in Kutrupadi village.
According to reports, five girl students had visited the river along with their friends as it was a holiday. While bathing in the river, the two students reportedly entered a deeper portion of the water without realising the depth and began drowning.
Those accompanying them tried to rescue the duo, but were unsuccessful, leading to the tragedy.
After receiving information about the incident, Kadaba Police Station personnel visited the spot and conducted an inspection. The bodies were later recovered with the help of local residents.
