Bengaluru, Feb 1: Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy ridiculed that the central government has failed to meet the expectations of the people and this budget was like cotton candy or Bombay mittai (Panji Mittai).

Speaking to reporters at his Home Office Krishna on Friday, the Chief Minister said that he does not know whether the Budget was prepared by the Finance Ministry officials or prepared at the RSS or BJP office. When the Congress-JDS coalition government announced the Rs 48,000 crore farm loan waiver, Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed it as ‘lollipop’.

Now, he has said that the central government has announced a programme to give Rs 6,000 each annually for a farmer family of 12 crore farmers families in the country, for which Rs 75,000 crore was earmarked. If the Budget announcement was implemented, total 59 lakh farmers of the state would get Rs 3,579 crore.

But when he had announced the loan waiver, the same central government leaders and the PM have criticized it saying that the Kumaraswamy government has given lollipop. Is the central government giving cotton candy now, he asked.

Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the centre has done nothing for the farmers for the last five years. Since it was the election year, people expected that it could announce good programmes for the farmers. But all expectations were failed, he said.

It was expected that the slab for income tax limit could be increased from existing Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. The NDA government has announced it on the last days of its tenure. The interim budget of the central government has completely failed.

They have put pressure on giving approval to Bengaluru Sub-urban train and the BJP leaders have said that they would prevail upon the centre to give approval and necessary assistance. But nothing was announced.

Total 17 BJP Lok Sabha Members were elected from the state. He would like to congratulate the BJP MPs for bringing various programmes to the state in the last five years, he ridiculed.

On December 7, the four accused allegedly went to the house of Naveen in the Vidyaranyapura limits, threatened him with a stick and an iron rod, and claimed they had information that he was selling ganja. Under the pretext of searching, they allegedly extorted ₹87,000 through bank transfer, ₹53,000 in cash kept in the house, and ₹2,000 from his wallet.
