Tumakuru, May 9: BJP president Amith Shah said that as the JDS could not dethrone the corrupt Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in the state, people of Karnataka should vote BJP for overall development of the state.
Addressing an election rally at Hebbur village in Tumkuru rural constituency on Wednesday, Shah said that the only way to check the corrupt Congress is electing BJP which has given 117 programmes for the youth. As Siddaramaiah realized his defeat in Chamundeshwari, he has gone to Badami. BJP candidate Sriramulu would defeat Siddaramaiah there also. Siddaramaiah was trying to win the election by distributing money which is not possible, he said.
Siddaramaiah who claims himself as socialist has a watch worth Rs 40 lakh and he was telling that it was gifted to him by one of his friends. But he should tell as to why the watch was gifted to Siddaramaiah. Moreover, Siddaramaiah did not disclose about this watch in his affidavit while filing his nomination papers. He has not spoken about this issue. In the entire country, Siddaramaiah is the No.1 corrupt. He has looted in the name of farmers, unemployed, and the poor and it is 10 per cent government, he said.
Tumakuru rural candidate B Suresh Gowda, ZP vice president Sharada Narasimhamurthy, taluk panchayat president Ganganjaneya and others were present.

ISLAMABAD: At least two more cases of poliovirus were reported in Pakistan, taking the number of infections to 52 so far this year, a report said on Friday.
“The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health has confirmed the detection of two more wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) cases in Pakistan," an official statement said.
The fresh infections — a boy and a girl — were reported from the Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
“Genetic sequencing of the samples collected from the children is underway," the statement read. Dera Ismail Khan, one of the seven polio-endemic districts of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has reported five polio cases so far this year.
Of the 52 cases in the country this year, 24 are from Balochistan, 13 from Sindh, 13 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and one each from Punjab and Islamabad.
There is no cure for polio. Only multiple doses of the oral polio vaccine and completion of the routine vaccination schedule for all children under the age of five can keep them protected.
