Bengaluru: JDS Karnataka Chief HD Kumaraswami issued a whip to its MLAs to vote for the party candidate BM Farooq in the March 23 biennial election to the Rajya Sabha.

The whip has been issued to 37 JDS MLAs including the rebel MLAs who were already suspended by the party.

Seven MLAs had violated the party's whip by indulging in cross-voting and had voted for Congress candidate in the previous biennial polls to the four Rajya Sabha seats. This had led to the defeat of the JDS candidate.

Now, once again BM Farooq is contesting for the Rajya Sabha seat.
