Bagalkot: BJP senior leader of Karnataka K. S Eshwarappa on Saturday came down hard on JDS party for HD Revanna’s comments on actress turned politician Sumalatha Ambareesh and said that the party should remove the image of female farmer from its logo if they can’t respect women.

He was referring to HD Revanna’s comments which came on Friday where he questioned the credibility of Sumalatha to challenge Kumaraswamy as she joined politics in less than one month of her husband’s demise.

Sumalatha had later expressed shock over the statement and had cried in front of media persons condemning the statement of Revanna.

“Revanna should immediately apologies for his remarks on Sumalatha or the party should remove woman farmer from their logo if they can’t respect women” Eshwarappa added.

Further alleging Devegowda of indulging in family politics, Eshwarappa added “If he had 28 sons, he would have made them contest from all 28 constituencies of the state. If he had 14 sons they would contest from 14 different constituencies and his 14 daughter-in-laws would contest from other 14 constituencies”.

Panaji (PTI): A court in Goa on Saturday granted bail to right-wing speaker Gautam Khattar, who was arrested after he allegedly made derogatory comments against St Francis Xavier.

Judicial Magistrate First Class, Vasco, granted regular bail to Khattar, currently admitted to Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim for treatment of chest pain after he was shifted from the District Hospital in Mapusa two days back.

A row erupted after a video of remarks by Khattar, the founder of Sanatan Mahasangh, at an event on April 18 in the presence of Swami Brahmeshanand, State Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho and BJP MLAs Sankulp Amonkar and Daji (Krishna) Salkar, went viral.

St Francis Xavier is revered as the patron saint of Goa.

The controversial remarks led to the Vasco Police registering an FIR against Khattar on charges of hurting religious sentiments and creating enmity between groups.

He was detained in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, by local police. His custody was later handed over to the Goa Crime Branch, according to officials.
