Bengaluru: The Karnataka Congress on Monday slammed the state government over reports of three patients dying due to shortage of oxygen at Chamrajnagar District COVID-19 hospital on Sunday night.
In a series of tweets, the state Congress blamed the government and added that it was criminal negligence on the part of the government that has resulted in the horrendous incident. It also questioned if the 23 people who have died in the hospital in since Sunday, died of COVID or were murders caused by negligence by the government.
The party also sought the resignation of Karnataka Health Minister Dr. Sudhakar and questioned who will take the responsibility for the incident. “Who will take responsibility? Karnataka CM, Health Minister, PM?” it questioned.
“How many more must die for the ‘system’ to wake up? These deaths have occurred due to the negligence of the Yediyurappa government. Health Minister must resign immediately. Mr. Chief Minister Yediyurappa, do you take moral responsibility for these deaths?” the party questioned.
“The deaths of the infected did not occur because of the infection, they were ‘Murdered by the Government’, Chamarajanagar district in-charge Minister Suresh Kumar and state Health Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar are directly responsible for the death of 24 infected people who died without oxygen in Chamarajanagar district. Both the ministers must resign immediately”, Congress insisted.
“Chamarajanagar District In-charge Minister, Mr. Suresh Kumar, have you even stepped inside the district? Have you paid attention to your district’s requirements and COVID Management? When your own aides died due to lack of oxygen, why didn’t you wake up and bring the government’s attention to this?”
“Due to the ineffective administration of this inefficient government, 24 people have died in a single night due to lack of oxygen at COVID Hospital in Chamarajanagar district. Despite widespread complaints being made about oxygen shortages for many days, the government has not understood the seriousness of this situation. Health Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar, where are you?” the party further questioned.
