Mysuru: All India Congress Committee President Mallikarjun Kharge and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched 'Gruha Lakshmi' guarantee scheme of the state government at the Maharaja College Grounds in the city on Wednesday, in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, ministers in the Karnataka government and Congress legislators along with hundreds of women from Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajnagar and Kodagu districts.
Every woman who has the name of the head of the family on the ration card, BPL card, APL card or Antyodaya card of the family is eligible to apply for the 'Gruha Lakshmi' scheme. Women who claim income tax or Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns, however, or their spouses are ineligible to apply, the government has clarified.
The government has added that beneficiaries of the scheme are required to produce the following documents while applying: Aadhaar card, husband's Aadhaar card, ration card, BPL card, APL card or Antyodaya card along with their mobile phone numbers. The beneficiaries are required to link their Aadhaar numbers to the mobile phone numbers, the government added.

Bhatkal: More than 50 per cent of the members elected to the executive committee of Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem in its triennial elections are new faces, with a significant number of young members getting an opportunity in the organisation’s executive committee.
Polling for eight constituencies in different parts of Bhatkal was held on May 12, in which 24 members were elected. In addition, 20 members were elected unopposed from seven constituencies.
The keenest contest was witnessed in Constituency No. 14, where 10 candidates were in the fray for five seats.
With this, the process of electing members to the organisation’s 132-member executive council from Bhatkal and other regions has been completed.
Election Commissioner Mohiuddin Altaf Kharoori said the induction of a large number of new members into the executive committee has brought fresh enthusiasm to the organisation.
