Karnataka Home Minister directs DGP to investigate Chamrajnagar Hospital incident
Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday said that he has directed the Director-General of Police (DGP) to obtain a comprehensive report on the deaths of COVID patients that occurred in the Chamarajanagar district COVID hospital on Sunday night allegedly due to a shortage of oxygen.
After commencing the Chemical spraying program conducted by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services in Bengaluru, Minister Bommai addressed the press and informed them about the development.
“Reports have come in that COVID patients in Chamarajanagar died due to oxygen shortage in the hospital. However, to verify on what was the real reason for all their death, I have ordered an investigation and a subsequent submission of a comprehensive report on the matter. This is an extremely distressing incident. This should not have happened”, he said while expressing regret over the incident.
“I have ordered the officials to visit the scene of the incident and conduct an investigation so the truth about the incident can come out. After receiving their report, further actions will be undertaken”, he said.
“The request for oxygen is increasing in the state. Despite that, we are meeting the oxygen requirements of all the hospitals within our limit. In this manner, we are trying to deal with this situation to the best we can”, Bommai said.

New Delhi: The countdown has begun for the counting of votes for the Assembly elections in five states that have captured the attention of people across the country.
