Karnataka: Nalin Kumar Kateel takes charge as BJP State President
Bengaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel who recently was made the State Chief of BJP took charge as the President of the party in state at party’s office in Bengaluru from his ex-president and Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa.
Yediyurappa after handing over the charge to Nalin Kumar, congratulated him on being the party’s state president.
Former CM and senior leader Jagadish Shettar after congratulating Nalin Kumar on taking charge as the president, left the venue adding that he had some emergency.
Party MLAs, MPs and senior leaders were present during the occasion. Cabinet Minister Sriramalu however remained absent from the ceremony.
Before reaching the BJP’s state office, Nalin Kumar visited Kadu Malleshwar Temple and offered special prayers. Speaking on the occasion, Nalin Kumar added that the party is witnessing ‘Golden time’ as it is in power at both centre and in the state.
“The party is witnessing golden era as it is in power in both centre and state. And in such a time the high command has given me the opportunity to lead the party in the state. The BJP has won across the country by the efforts of PM Modi, Amit Shah and several other leaders including BS Yediyurappa and Eshwarappa. I take charge as the party’s state president hoping to continue getting support from these people” he said.

9 killed, 10 wounded in South African pub shooting
Johannesburg (AP): Nine people have died, and at least 10 others were wounded after a group of gunmen carried out a shooting at a South African pub during the early hours of Sunday, authorities said.
The incident occurred just before 1 am in the township of Bekkersdal, which is located 46 kilometres (28 miles) west of Johannesburg. It is the second mass shooting to happen in South Africa in three weeks.
About 12 unknown suspects in a white mini-bus and a silver sedan opened fire at pub patrons at KwaNoxolo tavern, in the Tambo section of Bekkersdal and continued to shoot randomly as they fled the scene, according to police.
