Kalaburgi: In a terrible incident that occurred on Saturday, a son reportedly crushed his elderly mother with a stone violently killing her, after she refused to give him money for alcohol. The incident was reported from Kallura K village in Jevargi Taluk.
The deceased elderly mother has been identified as Bhimabaayi Poojary (75). The accused has been identified as the victim’s youngest son Yellappa Poojary.
On Saturday morning, after Bhimabaayi’s eldest son Sharanappa went out, her youngest son Yellappa Poojary approached her and reportedly began harassing her for money to buy alcohol. When the mother refused to give him any money, the accused reportedly picked up a heavy stone lying nearby and crushed his mother’s head by repeatedly throwing it on her frail head thus ultimately killing her, it is learned.
Yellappa Poojary was apprehended by the villagers and handed over to police.
Nelogi Police Station’s PSI Rajkumar Jamagonda and staff visited the crime scene and carried investigation. A case has been registered in this regard.

Mumbai (PTI): An empty double-decker electric bus was gutted in a fire during servicing at a BEST depot in Mumbai's Kurla area on Sunday, officials said, adding that nobody was injured.
The blaze broke out inside the Kurla BEST bus depot near Kanakia Building at 4.14 pm, according to preliminary information from the Mumbai Fire Brigade.
The parked bus was unoccupied at the time of the incident.
Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control. The exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, they said.
No injuries were reported in the incident, officials added.
The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking has hired 50 electric double-decker buses from Switch Mobility in its fleet of around 2,700 buses.
