Karnataka State Allied Healthcare Council reviews implementation of NCAHP Act, 2021
Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Allied Healthcare Council (KSAHC) held a meeting on Tuesday, February 3 in Bengaluru under the Chairmanship of Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, Minister for Medical Education.
The meeting was attended by Dr. B. L. Sujatha Rathod, Director, Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Dr. Bhagavan B. C., Vice Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Dr. U. T. Ifthikar Fareed, Chairman, KSAHC, and senior officials of the Directorate of Medical Education.
A comprehensive briefing was provided on the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) Act, 2021, explaining all sections of the Act, including statutory provisions, regulatory mechanisms, and the implementation framework.
The Minister was informed about the issuance of the curriculum under the Act, which specifies eligibility criteria for admissions as well as the minimum standards and requirements for allied and healthcare professional education. Officials also noted that registration of professionals is currently at the draft stage, and guidelines for institutional recognition have been issued for public consultation, after which formal implementation will follow.
It was further reported that Presidents of the Autonomous Boards have been nominated or appointed, with member appointments in progress. These four Autonomous Boards will oversee the Council’s functioning, including undergraduate and postgraduate education, maintenance of the professional registry, institutional assessment and rating, and ethical oversight, including matters concerning registration and withdrawal of professional registration.
The meeting also included a detailed discussion on the State Council Rules. It concluded with directions to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) and the Paramedical Board to implement NCAHP guidelines and ensure strict compliance with the provisions of the Act and State Rules.
RGUHS will submit inspection reports and proposals to the State Government for issuance of the Essentiality Certificate / No Objection Certificate (NOC). Upon receiving the Essentiality Certificate, institutions will submit it to the State Council, which will conduct its own inspections and grant formal recognition in accordance with procedures followed by the National Commission.

Bagalkot: Siddaramaiah made false promises to farmers, alleges B.Y. Vijayendra
Bagalkot: BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra on Tuesday accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of making false promises to farmers affected by the raising of the Almatti dam height, and sought clarity on compensation and fund allocation, The New Indian Express reported.
Addressing media persons while campaigning for the bypolls in Bagalkot city, Vijayendra questioned the government’s announcement of convening a special cabinet session to address farmers’ issues.
“How much funds have actually been released? The government should explain the status of the Upper Krishna Project,” he said.
He further said that the government had, around four months ago, promised compensation of Rs 40 lakh per acre for irrigated land and Rs 30 lakh per acre for dry land to farmers likely to lose their land.
Vijayendra demanded that the government disclose how much of the promised compensation has been disbursed so far.
