Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Monday felicitated Srinivas Gowda who recorded 100 meter run in only 9.5 seconds beating the world record of Ussain Bolt, the fastest man in the world.
Srinivas had scaled the record during Kambala run earlier last week and had become social media sensation overnight.

He was supposed to be handed a cheque of Rs. three lac from the government, however, for some technical reason, the cheque was not produced and minister CT Ravi and Shivram Hebbar posed with an empty cover in front of the media and cameras and left the venue.
It is reported that government officials handed cheque to Srinivas about half an hour after the event concluded/

Bengaluru (PTI): Seven people, including three children, were killed when the compound wall of a hospital collapsed here on Wednesday, police said.
The incident occurred in the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, they added.
When the heavy rains, coupled with strong winds, battered the area, the seven victims were taking shelter near the wall, which suddenly came down crashing, police further said. All seven people were killed on the spot, they added.
According to police sources, the victims were street vendors.
Police and emergency services personnel rushed to the spot with an earthmover to bring out the bodies from the debris with the help of residents.
