Kolar: CM Siddaramaiah inaugurates Yaragol dam in Bangarpet
Kolar: Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah inaugurated in Bangarpet taluk on Saturday the Yaragol dam, built to ensure supply of water to Kolar, Bangarpet and Malur taluks of the district.
The dam has been built near Yaragol village of Balamande Gram Panchayat in Bangarpet taluk, as a part of a project worth Rs 308.46 crore. The new dam has been constructed to stop the flow of the water in the Markandeya reservoir to Tamil Nadu and provide water to the Kolar, Bangarpet and Malur towns as well as 45 villages of the three taluks.
The CM inaugurated the Yaragol dam at a ceremony held on Saturday by the Kolar district administration and the Department for Urban Development.
Siddaramaiah also launched and inaugurated various other developmental projects, worth Rs 2,197 crore in Kolar district.
Ministers Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, K.H. Muniyappa, MP Muniswamy, MLAs K.Y. Nanjegowda and S.N. Narayanaswamy and the president of the Kolar-Chikkaballapur Milk Union Limited were present on the occasion.

DMK seeks separate seating in Lok Sabha after split with Congress alliance
New Delhi: Kanimozhi Karunanidhi has written to the Lok Sabha Speaker seeking a separate seating arrangement for Members of Parliament belonging to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) following the end of the party’s alliance with the Indian National Congress.
In a letter dated May 7 addressed to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Kanimozhi said the changed political situation made it inappropriate for DMK MPs to continue sitting alongside Congress members in the House.
She requested the Speaker to make “suitable changes” in the seating arrangement of the DMK Parliamentary Party and allot separate seating for its MPs.
“In view of the changed political circumstances and as our alliance with the Indian National Congress has come to an end, it may not be appropriate for our Members to continue occupying the present seating arrangement alongside them in the House,” the letter stated.
Kanimozhi further said separate seating would help DMK members effectively discharge their responsibilities in the Lok Sabha.
