Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP MLA Muniratna has been accused of honey trapping two former chief ministers for a ministerial position by a woman who has filed a rape complaint against him. The 40-year-old survivor made these allegations public during a press conference on October 9, 2024, where she also detailed a series of shocking claims against the MLA representing Rajaremphasising agar in Bengaluru.

The woman asserted that Muniratna exploited several women, including those living with HIV, who were too fearful to disclose his name. “He (Muniratna) has used the private videos of former chief ministers to become a minister,” she alleged, stating that the incidents reportedly took place in Bengaluru between 2020 and 2021. “If the government provides me protection, I will hand over the necessary documentation to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and reveal names,” she added.

The victim recounted her harrowing experiences, alleging that Muniratna used advanced video equipment to manipulate women. She claimed that his cousin, Sudhakar Ramchandra Naidu, was involved in managing these operations. “As far as I know, he (Muniratna) possesses private videos of police officers, politicians, and MLAs, with at least five to six other victims who are afraid to come forward. I managed to save some video clips when Sudhakar was away, as we were not allowed to carry our mobile phones,” she stated.

The woman accused Muniratna of raping her and utilising her in honey trapping schemes, explaining how he would make her participate in video calls and then take screenshots. “There is nothing political about me coming forward,” she stressed, emphasising the personal nature of her revelations.

Currently, Muniratna is in judicial custody, with the SIT investigating three cases registered against him—two at the Vyalikaval police station in Bengaluru and one at the Kaggalipura police station in Ramanagara. He has been charged under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including rape, sexual harassment, voyeurism, criminal intimidation, extortion, and acts intended to insult a woman's modesty. Additionally, he faces allegations under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
