Vijayapura: A headmaster of a government higher primary school in Sindagi, committed suicide by hanging himself at the premises of Tahsildar’s office here on late Sunday night.

The deceased headmaster has been identified as Basavaraj Malappa Nayakal (54).

A death note was also recovered from the pocket of Malappa’s shirt which had blamed the Sindagi BEO HM Haranala, CRP GN Patil, BM Talwar, SL Bhajantri and Sangamesh Chincholi from the village for his suicide. He asserted that he was being harassed by these men prompting him to end his life.

“SL Bhajantri appointed me as headmaster and then made me a scapegoat to target me. I brought this issue to the notice of Sindagi BEO HM Harinala but nothing came out of it. He kept harassing me by giving me notices repeatedly.” He wrote in the death note.

‘Sangamesh Chincholi of the village made allegations against me and CRP and Sangamesh were extorting money from me. They had alleged that I was embezzling money by projecting more admissions of the students under the ‘Mid-Day Meal Scheme’.” The letter added.

“But, the future of my students is more important than me. Justice should be served to my wife and daughter.” The death note further stated.

A case has been registered at Sindagi police station based on the complaint filed by the wife of the deceased headmaster.
