Bengaluru: Lokayukta ADGP M. Chandrasekhar has lodged a formal complaint against Union Heavy Industries and Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy, his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy, and Suresh Babu, accusing them of making false allegations against him and his family. The complaint was filed at the Sanjay Nagar Police Station in Bengaluru on Friday.
Chandrasekhar in his complaint alleged that Kumaraswamy had made baseless accusations during press conferences held on September 28 and 29.
He mentioned that he had requested permission from the governor to take legal action against Kumaraswamy, citing additional evidence from a 2014 case (No. 16/2014) filed against him.
He alleged that Kumaraswamy had verbally threatened him, suggesting that he be transferred out of the Karnataka cadre and accusing him of falsifying medical records to remain in the state.
Chandrasekhar further accused Kumaraswamy of falsely alleging that he had accepted bribes. He noted that on September 29, Nikhil Kumaraswamy also held a press conference, echoing these claims, and later, Suresh Babu, a close associate of Kumaraswamy, issued similar allegations in a letter to the Chief Secretary, which was shared on social media.
In response, the Sanjay Nagar Police registered a case (No. 207/2024) under Section 174(1) of the BNSS against HD Kumaraswamy, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, and Suresh Babu.
This complaint follows accusations made by Kumaraswamy against ADGP Chandrasekhar, whom he described as corrupt and a blackmailer, after Kumaraswamy's appearance before the Lokayukta in connection with the Sandur mining scam investigation. Despite these allegations, Chandrasekhar affirmed that he would remain focused on the investigation, emphasizing that an accused remains an accused, regardless of their position.
