Mysuru: An incident of landslide reported from between Hassan and Shantigrama stations of the Mysuru Railway Division on Saturday morning damaged a goods locomotive and led to the rescheduling of train services, although no casualties or injuries were reported.

The Railway officials said that the trackmen on site cleared the track of mud and debris, ensuring no obstruction remained, reported The Hindu. The track was declared “fit” for regular train operations at 6:55 a.m., with a speed restriction of 20 kmph. Consequently, the Hassan-Yeswanthpur train (Train Number 22680) was rescheduled to depart from Hassan at 8:30 AM instead of 7 AM.

Another case of landslide was reported between the Yedukameri and Kadagaravalli sections, also in the Mysuru Division, on Friday night, affecting train services and leading to either re-routing or cancellation of trains. As a result, the Yeshwanthpur-Mangaluru Express (Train Number 16539) for the journey commencing on July 27 was cancelled along with that of the Karwar-Yeshwanthpur Express (Train Number 16516).

Train No 07377 Vijayapura-Mangaluru Central Special Express, which began its journey on July 26, was provided an alternative route passing through Hubballi, Londa, Castlerock, Kulem, Madgaon, Karwar, Thokur, and Mangaluru Junction. Other trains which also commenced on July 26 were diverted from their regular routes due to the landslide.

An official release has declared that passengers of Train No. 07378 Mangaluru Central-Vijayapura Express were supplied food packed as well KSRTC bus facility from the Subrahmanya Road Railway Station. It also stated that four buses were provided to transport passengers to Bengaluru, one bus to Mysuru, one bus to Hassan, and one bus to Subrahmanya.

New Delhi (PTI): Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the RSS were strengthening the wall standing in the path of Dalits, Adivasis and OBCs, even as he acknowledged that the UPA took steps to weaken that wall but not to the extent it should have.

Addressing the 'Samvidhan Rakshak Abhiyaan', Gandhi also referred to the function held on Constitution Day in Parliament and said that it is his guarantee, that "Modi has not read" the Constitution.

"If PM Modi would have read this book then what he does daily, he would not do it," Gandhi said, displaying a copy of the Constitution of India.

Gandhi said the country's whole system is pitted against Dalits, Adivasis and backward class people.

He said a wall obstructs the path of Dalits, Adivasis and OBCs and Modi and the RSS are strengthening that wall by "adding cement to it".

"Slowly the wall (obstructing the path of SCs, STs, OBCs) is getting strengthened. Earlier, the UPA government gave MGNREGA, the land acquisition act, the right to food...those were ways to weaken that wall. Today, when I look back, I can say the UPA government did not weaken the wall to the extent it should have, it did not do it as strongly as it should have," Gandhi said.

"However, we used to make efforts to weaken that wall but they (the BJP) are strengthening that wall by adding concrete," the former Congress president said.

Gandhi said a caste survey being carried out in Telangana is a historic step and the Congress will do the same wherever it comes to power.
