Less than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases in Karnataka, 13 deaths
Bengaluru, Nov 30: Karnataka reported less than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases and 13 related fatalities on Monday, taking the total number of infections to 8,84,897 and the toll to 11,778, the health department said
The day also saw 2,209 patients getting discharged after recovery, while active cases touched 23,279.
Bengaluru Urban reported 444 cases out of the total of 998 in the state, followed by Haveri 123, Hassan 45, Tumakuru and Mysuru 43 each, Vijayapura and Mandya 30, while the remaining was scattered over various districts.
Cumulatively 8,84,897 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state and these include 11,778 deaths and 8,49,821 discharges, the health department said in a bulletin.
Of the active cases, 22,930 patients are stable in isolation at designated hospitals. As many as 349 are undergoing treatment in Intensive Care Units.
Bengaluru Urban, with six deaths, was on top of the list, followed by Bengaluru Rural (2), while Bagalkote, Ballari, Dakshina Kannada, Kodagu and Uttara Kannada each reported one fatality.
Most of those who succumbed to the disease on Monday had a history of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) or Influenza-like illness (ILI).
Bengaluru urban district tops the districts in the list of positive cases, with a total of 3,69,734 infections, followed by Mysuru 50,680 and Ballari 38,242.
Among discharges too, Bengaluru Urban tops the list with total 3,48,348 discharges, followed by Mysuru 49,326 and Ballari 37,437.
A total of over 1,11,01,633 samples have been tested so far, out of which 81,333 were tested on Monday alone, the bulletin added.

Counterfeit notes worth Rs 2.38 lakh seized in Bantwal, two arrested
Mangaluru: Punjalakatte Police have busted a fake currency racket near Pandavarakallu in Badagakajekkaru village of Bantwal taluk, arresting two persons and seizing counterfeit notes and other materials worth about Rs 7.96 lakh, Deccan Herald reported.
According to police, Sub-Inspector Rajesh K.V. received credible information on May 1 that two persons were allegedly transporting and storing counterfeit currency in a car at Koominadka near Pandavarakallu with the intention of circulating it for financial gain.
Acting on the tip-off, the police team raided the location and detained Mohammed Sameer (28) and Mohammed Irfan (26). Another accused, Rasheed Kundadka, managed to escape from the spot.
Police seized five bundles of counterfeit Rs 500 notes with a total face value of Rs 2.38 lakh. They also confiscated three mobile phones worth Rs 57,000 and the car allegedly used in the crime, valued at around Rs 5 lakh.
The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs 7.96 lakh.
