Lorry hits scooter: Student dies
Bengaluru, July 22: A college student died and her sister sustained minor injuries when a cement mixing lorry hit their scooter from the rear at VV Puram police station limits in the city on Sunday.
The victim is identified as Preethi (19) of Cotton Pet. She was studying in B Com. Her sister Lavanya sustained minor injuries and undergoing treatment in a hospital. Both the sisters were going to Lalbagh on the scooter via Kumbigal road at 7.30 am for walking. Lavanya was riding the scooter and Preethi was the pillion. The lorry hit their scooter from the rear and both of them fell on the road and Preethi crushed under the wheel of the lorry. But the lorry driver was absconding soon after the incident. VV Puram police visited the spot and registered a case.

UP man held for 'indecent' social media remarks about PM Modi
Sambhal (PTI): A man here was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly posting indecent remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media, police said.
Gunnaur Circle Officer Deepak Tiwari said the arrested man has been identified as Sudhir Yadav, a resident of Medhauli village.
The man was booked under BNS Section 152 (criminalises acts endangering the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India), the police official added.
