Bengaluru, May 14: In the re-poll held at polling booth-2 of Lottegollahalli in Hebbala constituency in Bengaluru held on Monday, 53.33 per cent voting was registered.
Out of total 1444 voters including 744 men and 704 women, only 770 voters including 379 men and 391 women turned out to the polling station. Total 674 voters stayed away from the polling. It is said that because of rain that lashed in the area during afternoon, the voters remained inside their houses.
From morning 7 to 10, only 220 voters exercised their votes. But gradually, the voters lost their enthusiasm and number came down. As the rain disturbed the situation, people preferred to be inside the homes instead of coming out and exercise their votes. They have expected more than 70 per cent voting. But it was disappointed, said election officers.
Protest
Alleging that Congress candidate Bhyrati Suresh is distributing money to the voters, JDS and BJP workers gathered in front of an apartment and staged a protest. As the BJP and JDS alleged that the Congress candidate is distributing ornaments and cash, confusion prevailed in the area for some time. Police had tough time to bring the situation under control.
Later Bhyrati Suresh said that “I have to my friend’s home for breakfast. But because of the fear of defeat, BJP candidate YA Narayanswamy is making false allegation”, he said.
Close on the heels of the clarification of the Congress candidate, Union Minister DV Sadananada Gowda joined BJP workers in the protest and alleged that the Congress candidate has been distributing money with a fear of losing the battle.
As BJP candidate YA Narayanaswamy is seen speaking to voters time and again within the restricted area of the polling station, returning officer warned him. Narayanswamy said that he would sit inside the polling station instead of his agent. But returning officer Narasimhappa warned Narayanswamy against his wish, the latter went outside the premises, it is said.
Following technical snag in the EVM during polling on May 12, the Election Commission has postponed the polling in Lottegollahalli-2 polling station and re-polling was conducted on Monday.

Bose questioned the expenditure in the post X, “when Everyone knows RSS is Not Registered & Does not Pay any Tax is it justified to spend Tax Payers Money on such Private event??”
Reacting to the development, Karnataka’s IT-BT and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge also criticised the spending.
In a post on X, he asked why public money was being used for what he described as a “private ideological project.”
"Modi Sarkar spent Rs 76,13,129 of public money on newspaper advertisements to celebrate 100 years of the RSS. Why is Government spending taxpayers money on an unregistered, non-tax-paying organisation to celebrate their centenary?," he added.

According to reports, the RSS describes itself as a volunteer-based organisation and has stated that it functions as a body of individuals rather than a registered entity.
Founded by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in 1925, the organisation is marking its centenary year beginning from Vijaydashami in 2025, with the milestone observed on October 2.
