Chamrajnagar: A massive accidental fire broke out in the Bailur forest area under the BRT wildlife sanctuary of Hanur taluk, resulting in a significant loss of wildlife. The incident, which occurred recently, has raised concerns among environmentalists and forest officials.
According to reports, the fire ignited a large area within the forest, causing extensive damage to the wildlife habitat. More than 40 personnel from the BRT Wildlife Division in the Bailur zone and over 30 personnel from the nearby Punjoor forest range worked tirelessly for several hours to extinguish the fire.

The fire, which is believed to have been caused accidentally, spread rapidly, resulting in a huge amount of wildlife being burnt. However, the extent of damage to the wildlife habitat and the loss of wildlife is yet to be fully assessed.

Gondia (PTI): At least nine passengers were killed and 25 others injured when a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus overturned in Gondia district on Friday afternoon, police said.
Citing preliminary information, a senior police official said the MSRTC bus 'Shiv Shahi' was carrying 36 passengers and heading to Gondia district from Bhandara when it flipped over at Davva village under Sadakarjuni taluka while trying to overtake another vehicle.
Nine passengers were killed and 25 others injured in the accident which took place at around 12.30 pm, he said.
The injured passengers were shifted to hospital, the official added.
