MCC violation: case against Minister Pramod Madhwaraj
Udupi: An FIR has been registered against Sports and Youth Empowerment Minister Pramod Madhwaraj on charges of violation of the model code of conduct.
The minister had recently said that Gururaj Poojary, a native of Kundapura who won a silver medal in the men's 56-kg category weighlifting at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, would get a reward of Rs 15 lakh. The minister had also said Poojary would get a group 'B' post in government as per the sports policy drafted a few months back.
Election official Poovitha said that the Sports minister's statement amounted to violation of the model code of conduct.
A case has been registered in the Udupi town police station.

Kerala: Seven-year-old dies after window frame falls on him
Pathanamthitta (Kerala) (PTI): A seven-year-old boy died after a window frame fell on him at his residence here on Sunday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Drupath, son of Thanoj Kumar, a resident of Ezhamkulam near Adoor.
According to the FIR, the incident occurred around 9 am when a window frame that had been leaning against a wall toppled.
Police said the boy was climbing on the window rods when the frame suddenly fell on him.
He was first rushed to a nearby hospital and later shifted to a health facility, where he succumbed to his injuries, officials said.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation.
