Bengaluru: "The way in which the Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) is providing legal aid to the innocents and oppressed is a great task. I am always with APCR for such relief works and ready to provide all possible assistance from the Minority Commission", informed Minority Commission chairman G A Bawa.
He was addressing here after inaugurating the District Office Bearers Conference on 'Legal issues and its solutions' held in Bengaluru on Saturday, 28th September, under the aegis of APCR Karnataka Chapter. G A Bawa said that recently APCR delegation led by its secretary made a visit to the state jail. He said there were several people who have been released on bail but did not have enough money to pay them out. For such a situation, free legal aid is provided by the government, but we also need to work on it to bring people out. He assured that the Minority Commission will always be ready to jointly work with the APCR.
Further speaking, newly elected APCR President and Bengaluru High Court Advocate P. Usman lauded APCR's performance so far and said that he joined into APCR after noticing the services and being impressed by people's reactions towards APCR. Addressing about the current situation in the country, he said that the constitution we have is like a weapon for us. "There are great opportunities for APCR workers to work for civil rights in accordance with the constitution. We should not go beyond constitutional provinces. Hence if we follow this, there should not be any fear, hesitation or restrictions in our activities and also there will be no barriers for us to do anything that the Constitution allows us to do," he said.
The conference was attended by APCR officials from various districts of the state, who were assigned different responsibilities and given a month's time to perform several tasks. Meanwhile, the one-year 'Calendar of Events' list was also read. On this occasion, the district officials submitted annual reports of the activities in their respective areas and expressed their determination to perform the tasks better in the future.
Assistant Ameer-e-Halqa of Jamat e Islami Hind Karnataka, Maulana Muhammad Yousuf Kunhi lauded Karnataka APCR. He said that there are many organization in society that are doing many social works, but APCR has been established for the work which hardly any organization does. He opined the members to work according to the Association's bylaws so that people will come finding you for help. On this occasion, Maulana presented several suggestions and asked to focus on strengthening the Association.
The program began with the recitation of verses from Holy Quran by Abdul Muqtadeer, while APCR Karnataka chapter General Secretary Muhammad Niyaz Ahmed addressed welcome note and briefly introduced about the organization. APCR state co-ordinator Shaikh Muhammad Shafi and Founder Member of APCR Mehamood Qazi too expressed their views on current services of APCR. State Executive Member Tajuddin Sharif compered the event and also gave a vote of thanks.
The conference began in the morning at around 10:30 AM and concluded in the evening at 5:00 PM.

Pilibhit (PTI): A 19-day-old elephant calf, brought from Bijnor, was placed under care at the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (PTR) on Sunday, an official said and added that the calf got separated from its mother in the forest area of Bijnor.
The calf was born on December 2 in the Bijnor forest area and got separated from its mother shortly after birth, the official said.
The forest department made several attempts to reunite it with its mother, but without any success. To ensure the calf's safety and better care, it was decided to transfer it to the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve on the instructions of senior officials.
On Saturday, Deputy Director Manish Singh received the calf. Special arrangements have been made in the reserve for its care. It has been kept in a safe and clean environment to provide it with a natural setting and protect it from external noise and disturbances.
Singh told reporters that raising an 19-day-old calf is challenging.
It requires a special diet as a substitute for mother's milk and constant monitoring.
He said a special team has been formed to provide 24-hour care. Since the calf is very young, it is being cared for like a newborn baby.
According to Singh, the primary responsibility for monitoring the calf's health has been entrusted to PTR's veterinarian, Dr Daksh Gangwar. Under his supervision, a complete record of the calf's health checkups, diet, and body temperature is being maintained. The team is ensuring that the calf does not contract any infection.
