Bengaluru, November 16: KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah have been misusing the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Income Tax (IT) department to torture Minister DK Shivakumar for the last one year.
Speaking to reporters here on Friday, he said that it was a conspiracy hatched out purposefully. Earlier also, the Income Tax department officials have conducted raids on Shivakumar’s house and kept him in house arrest for three days. He was being tortured for the last one year, he said.
The incidents of former minister Janardhan Reddy and Shivakumar were separate incidents. Janardhan Reddy was jailed and released on bail. Now once again, he was arrested in another case and released on bail. But Shivakumar did not do any of such mistakes, he said.
“Law is equal to all. None is above the law. If Shivakumar makes any mistakes or crime, the agencies are free to arrest him and take action. Instead of it, he is being tortured which is not right. If the BJP people continue their torture, Shivakumar would rise above all”, he said.
When asked about Shivakumar’s statement that BJP MLA Sriramulu was in Congress, Gundu Rao said that Sriramulu was in the Congress earlier. In many local elections, he had contested on Congress ticket. Those who were in Congress had joined other parties and in the same way, leaders from other political parties have joined the Congress which is a common factor in politics. There were no discussions on bringing Sriramulu back to Congress. But the Congress has asked votes against Sriramulu and Janardhan Reddy in Ballari by-election and the people have voted the Congress, he said.

Singapore (PTI): Investigations into the death of singer Zubeen Garg are ongoing but so far no foul play is suspected, Singapore police have said.
Garg died under mysterious circumstances while swimming in the sea in Singapore on September 19.
The case is currently still being investigated by the Singapore Police Force (SPF), in accordance with the Singapore Coroners Act 2010, the police said on Thursday.
“Based on our investigations so far, the SPF does not suspect foul play in the death of Garg,” said the statement.

Upon completion of the investigations, the findings will be submitted to the State Coroner in Singapore, who will hold a Coroner’s Inquiry (CI), currently scheduled for January and February 2026.
A CI is a fact-finding process led by the Coroner to establish the cause and circumstances of death. Its findings will be made public upon conclusion, said the SPF.
Singapore police are committed to conducting a thorough and professional investigation into the case, it said.
“We seek the patience and understanding of the parties involved. Meanwhile, we urge the public not to speculate and spread unverified information,” said SPF.
A Special Investigation Team probing Garg's death charged four accused, including the singer’s secretary Siddhartha Sharma and festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, with murder in a chargesheet filed in a court in India last week.
Garg was due to perform at the 4th Northeast India Festival at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre on September 20.
