Mudigere, Sept 15: The Assam police on Saturday unearthed a case in which Assam-based workers murdered and buried an Assamese man, who had come to work along with them at a coffee estate here. The accused allegedly went to Assam after committing the crime.

Four-five families from Assam came to work in a coffee estate at Devavrunda in the taluk a few months ago. Reportedly, a clash broke out among them in the previous week. Following which, two laborers killed a man who had come to work along with them and buried his body in the estate itself.

Pretending to be unaware of the murder, everyone returned to Assam after committing the crime. When the family members of the victim learnt that all have returned from Karnataka except their kin, they reportedly lodged a complaint with a local police station in Assam.

When Assam police took two men to inquire, they reportedly divulged that they killed the man and buried him in the estate where he was working. Based on this information, the Assam Police informed the Gonibeedu police.

The Gonibeedu police, who rushed to the spot and launched the investigation, are scheduled to leave for Assam on Saturday night to bring the accused. More information regarding the incident, including the names of the accused and the victim, will be known once the accused are brought back.
