Mandya: Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy has assured release of grants worth Rs 10 crore very soon for development of the My Sugar High School in Mandya district.
Speaking to reporters in Mandya, Kumaraswamy said that he had insisted that the school should never be privatized. “A team has been sent to Mandya to survey the school. My assurance to get help for the school need not be considered hollow. I have already submitted an application to ensure the school gets a grant of Rs 10 crore very soon,” the minister added.
Pointing out that he had launched several projects worth crores of rupees in Mandya, the Union minister said that a school building and bus stands were being launched as CSR projects. “The funds for the renovation and development of the My Sugar School too will be granted from CSR funds,” he clarified.
Kumaraswamy, who inaugurated the new market stores at the Jayachamarajendra Market, laid stress on the fact that it was the oldest market in Mandya and directed the deputy commissioner to ensure that there is no confusion in allocating the 127 new stores here.

Kasaragod: Security was stepped up at the Kasaragod District Collector’s office after an email warning of a bomb threat was received on Friday evening.
Officials said the message prompted an immediate response from the police, who alerted senior officers and rushed security teams to the spot. The bomb disposal squad and dog squad were also pressed into service.
A detailed search was carried out inside the Collector’s office and in the surrounding premises. Police later confirmed that no explosives or suspicious items were found during the operation.
Preliminary investigation showed that the threat email originated from Ukraine. Police have begun efforts to trace the sender and verify the source of the message.
