Mysuru, Mar 22: Enraged over the death of a civil engineer, a mob went on a rampage here on Monday, damaging a police van and attacking the traffic policemen.
The 47-year-old civil engineer Devaraju from H D Kote was speeding on his bike when the policemen checking vehicles tried to stop him. But, he went to the extreme left at a great speed, the police allegedly hurled lathi at biker as a result the two- wheeler skidded, and he fell. He died on the spot after run over by truck, also the pillion received serious injury, the police said.
This angered the mob which damaged the police vehicle and beat up the traffic policemen.
On hearing this, a deputy commissioner of police Prakash Gowda went to the scene and dispersed the crowd.
The traffic policemen, who faced the mob fury, were taken to a hospital and their condition is stable, the police said.

Mumbai (PTI): An empty double-decker electric bus was gutted in a fire during servicing at a BEST depot in Mumbai's Kurla area on Sunday, officials said, adding that nobody was injured.
The blaze broke out inside the Kurla BEST bus depot near Kanakia Building at 4.14 pm, according to preliminary information from the Mumbai Fire Brigade.
The parked bus was unoccupied at the time of the incident.
Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control. The exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, they said.
No injuries were reported in the incident, officials added.
The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking has hired 50 electric double-decker buses from Switch Mobility in its fleet of around 2,700 buses.
