Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Developement Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar said that already he has instructed the officials concerned to prepare a roadmap for the development of Bengaluru for the next five years. "We will be spending Rs. 50 thousand crore for this project," he said.
He was speaking after inaugurating various development works, including Badminton Court, Tennis Roof, BBMP Office; at Shankar Mutt ward.
"As the City is growing in a tremendous way, we have dedicated Rs. 50,000 crore for its development in the next five years. I have already instructed the officials to prepare a roadmap," he said.
"Tax collection is very important for Bengaluru's development. Rs. 2500 crore tax is pending. Names will be published in papers if tax is not paid. How can the BBMP run if people do not pay tax? Therefore we have decided to go tough against the tax defaulters," the DCM warned.
Speaking about the Steel Flyover project, he said “We have undertaken two elevated corridor projects at the cost of Rs 25,000 for the development of Bengaluru. Only a few are opposing this Steel flyover project, but this is also an elevated road. But it is called as Steel Bridge as we use a certain amount of steel in the construction. We will not let go of this project just because some people are opposing it. We will be transparent during the process. If anyone comes in the way, we might resort to legal action," he warned.
He further said that the state cabinet has approved replacing the existing sodium vapour lamps to LED lights project and this would help BBMP save Rs 18 crore per month.

Two people killed as poultry vehicle rams into parked truck in Belagavi
Belagavi (Karnataka) (PTI): Two people were killed, and another was severely injured after a goods vehicle transporting poultry birds allegedly rammed into a stationary truck on a national highway in Belagavi in the early hours of Tuesday, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Wasim (28) and Mubarak (22), both natives of Shivamogga district, they said.
The driver of the vehicle, Basavaraj Eerappa Hanchinamani (37), suffered critical injuries and has been admitted to a hospital, police said.
According to police, the accident occurred when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, allegedly due to drowsiness, and crashed into a truck parked along the highway.
The goods vehicle was en route from Kolhapur to Sorab in Shivamogga district, carrying poultry. Several chickens were also killed in the impact, a senior police officer said.
Police personnel from the Hirebagewadi Police Station visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
Injured people and the bodies of the deceased were shifted to a hospital, police added.
