Yadgir: In a distressing incident reported from Yadgir district, the lifeless body of a newborn child was discovered amid the refuse dumped in a cemetery near Jhandakera Santraswadi in Surapura town on Monday morning.

The discovery was made by individuals collecting plastic waste in the area, who informed the local residents. After verifying the information, the locals contacted the police to report the finding of the child's deceased body amid the waste.

Sub-inspector Sharanappa Havaldar and police constables coordinated the shifting of the body to the taluk government hospital. The final rites for the child were conducted at the crematorium located in the hospital's backyard.

Expressing shock and concern, local residents condemned the act of the parents throwing away their newborn child. They urged the authorities to ensure stringent action against the parents for this inhumane act.

Bengaluru (PTI): Three passengers who arrived from Bangkok at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on Wednesday were arrested with hydroponic ganja valued at Rs 4.53 crore, officials said.

The accused, whose identities have not been disclosed, were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, they said.

In a post on X, Bengaluru Customs said it intercepted three passengers arriving from Bangkok and seized 12.96 kg of hydroponic ganja, valued at Rs 4.53 crore, concealed in their check-in baggage.

Further investigation is underway.
