Bengaluru: Chief Minister-designate HD Kumaraswamy has ordered to take appropriate precautionary measures in the state in the wake of Niphā virus’ outbreak in the neighboring state of Kerala.

"The deadly Niphā virus is spreading across Kerala that has already killed ten people. The virus is likely to spread to Mangaluru, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar and Mysore districts which are adjacent to Kerala. Therefore, I have already ordered the Health Department’s chief secretary to take appropriate steps to prevent the viral infection," said HD Kumaraswamy.

Meanwhile, Dakshina Kannada district medical officer has stated on Tuesday that two suspected cases of Nipah virus infection have been reported in Mangaluru.

Amritsar, Nov 24: A bomb-like object was found outside the Ajnala police station near Amritsar on Sunday, police said.

Police sealed the area and pressed a bomb disposal squad into service immediately after getting the information, which sent the object for further investigation, officials said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Gurwinder Singh, said it would be too early to say anything on the matter, adding that an investigation was underway.
