Hubli: Senior Congress leader and former minister DK Shivakumar on Monday added that his party will not politicize flood issue and that it will support the government in resolving it at the earliest. He further urged the centre to declare floods in Karnataka as national disaster.

Shivakumar who is visiting flood-hit Districts in North Karnataka reached Hubli on Monday. Addressing the reporters he said “I will visit Kundagola and will also visit places recommended by District leaders. There is a need for centre and state government to work together to provide relief to the flood victims in the state”.

Shivakumar further noted that he has urged the party workers in the state to keep aside all the differences and to work together in cooperation to help the people in distress. “People are also trying to use the situation in the state to make money in the name of donation and relief helps, people who really wish to collect money for the flood victims, should first register themselves at police stations or Taluk office” he said while calling on CM to take strict action against such practices.

Srinagar (PTI): Property worth Rs 1 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler was on Saturday attached in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar, police said.

A double-storey house on eight marlas of land situated at Wantpora Eidgah, belonging to Basit Bilal Dar, a notorious drug peddler, valued at approximately Rs 1 crore, a police spokesperson said.

He said Dar is involved in two cases registered under various sections of the NDPS Act.

During investigation, it was established that the accused had acquired the said property through illicit proceeds generated from drug trafficking activities, the spokesperson said.

Consequently, the property was attached under the provisions of the NDPS Act. The attachment proceedings were conducted in the presence of the two independent witnesses, strictly in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures, he said.

As per the attachment order, the owner has been restrained from selling, leasing, transferring, altering, or creating any third-party interest in the property till further orders, the spokesperson added.
