Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has clarified that there has been no revision in charges or new rules regarding the transportation of luggage and goods on its buses, countering misleading information being circulated on social media.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, KSRTC said that the practice of allowing passengers to carry personal luggage and certain goods has been in place for a long time, and claims of a newly implemented luggage policy are false.

The corporation stated that, depending on available space, items such as washing machines, refrigerators, truck tyres, aluminum and iron pipes, utensils, cats, dogs, and rabbits have been permitted for transport since 1999.

Passengers are allowed to carry up to 30 kg of luggage free of charge. KSRTC also confirmed that no new circular or luggage policy has been introduced after October 28, 2022, and there has been no revision in fares for transporting luggage or goods on its buses.

Dhamtari (Chhattisgarh) (PTI): A man and a 17-year-old girl, suspected to be in a relationship, were found hanging from a tree in a village in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district on Wednesday, police said.

Locals informed the police after spotting Manes Markam (20) and the girl hanging from a tree in a field in Mahuabahara village under the jurisdiction of Sihawa police station in the morning, an official said.

While the girl lived in Mahuabahara, the man hailed from nearby Gendabharri village, he said.

Preliminary investigation suggested the two were in love and allegedly committed suicide, fearing their families would not accept their relationship, he said.

The duo had been missing from their homes since Tuesday evening. The field where their bodies were discovered reportedly belongs to the girl’s father, he said.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation into the matter is underway, he added.
