Bengaluru: Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao has issued a ‘No Work No Pay’ order against 2,300 enumerators who failed to report for duty during the ongoing Social Educational Survey in the city.
“These enumerators did not report for work despite repeated notices and SMSes,” The New Indian Express quoted Rao as saying.
Rao stated that the order disallows their salaries for the period of unauthorised absence. He also directed the staff to report to duty immediately and complete their assigned targets.
Of the 21,000 enumerators, around 18,000 are reportedly working. Pregnant women, mothers with children under one year of age, and individuals with serious health conditions have been granted exemptions.
As of Tuesday, five crore people had been surveyed across the state (excluding GBA areas), achieving 91.46% coverage. Within the GBA limits, 44.76 lakh households, or 31.83%, have been enumerated so far.
