PM Modi calls former PM Deve Gowda to enquire about his health
Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, who was unable to attend Modi’s swearing-in ceremony on Sunday due to ill health, and enquired about his health.
In a post on his personal ‘X’ account on Tuesday, Gowda said, “PM Shri @narendramodi avaru called me to share his thoughts and ideas on the new government. He enquired after my health too. I am grateful for his care and concern. His warmth made me emotional. May the almighty’s blessings always be on him. May he lead India to greater glory.”

The former PM had posted on Sunday a copy of his letter to Modi congratulating him on taking charge of the Central government for the third successive term. Gowda wrote to Modi, “First of all, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on being sworn in as Prime Minister of India for the third straight term. It is a truly historic occasion… I would have very much liked to be part of the swearing in ceremony today, but my health does not permit me to travel to Delhi… I again reiterate the full support of my party, Janata Dal (Secular), to the National Democratic Alliance government. As a member of the NDA, we look forward to working with you and help you deliver your agenda of ‘Sab Ka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ (development for all).”

UP: Blood-soaked body of elderly man found in Hathras
Hathras (UP) (PTI): The blood-soaked body of an elderly man was found inside his house in Paharpur village here on Tuesday morning, police said.
The deceased, Jagdish Prasad Sharma, 75, who lived alone, had gone to sleep in his house on Monday night, officials said.
On Tuesday morning, his blood-soaked body was lying on a cot, with marks on his head and body indicating blows from a sharp-edged weapon, they said, adding that the police suspect murder.
Police and forensic teams reached the spot upon receiving information and sent the body for a post-mortem, they said.
Additional Superintendent of Police Ramanand Kushwaha said that Sharma, a retired Health Department employee, had been living alone since his wife's death during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He owned around 20-25 bighas of land and was also engaged in money lending, the officer said.
