Shivamogga: Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Saturday said that he would travel across the state and ensure that the party wins the coming assembly elections in the state. Yediyurappa said that touring the state and strengthening the party was part of his role as the member of the BJP’s Parliamentary Board Committee.

Speaking to reporters in the city, the former CM added that he will ensure that the party secures at least 140 seats in the next assembly elections adding that the target of 140 seats was set by PM Modi during his visit to Mangaluru on Friday.

“Everyone will be involved in the statewide campaign. The Prime Minister said he too will participate in the election campaigns. We are confident of forming the government in the state again,” he said.

“We will soon be organising a BJP conference in Shivamogga wherein more than one lakh people will attend the event. PM Modi himself will be visiting the state every month to oversee the preparations of the elections.” Yediyurappa who was recently inducted into the BJP’s Parliamentary Board Committee said.

Belthangady: A case has been registered at Dharmasthala police station against Girish Mattannavar over a complaint regarding alleged defamatory posts on social media against Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala.

The complaint was filed by Subrahmanya Prasad, a resident of Dharmasthala.

The complainant stated that Mattannavar posted content on Instagram making allegations against Dr. Heggade and allegedly affecting his reputation.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered under Section 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which is related to spreading false information, rumours, or alarming news, on April 18, and the investigation is in progress.

Following information about Mattannavar’s appearance at the SIT office on May 7, a police officer from Dharmasthala police station issued a notice directing him to appear at the station within a week.
