Hubballi: An 18-year-old student died by suicide in Siddakalyan Nagar of Unkal in Hubballi, reportedly distressed over her II PUC exam results.
The deceased has been identified as Shravani Maruti Kale, a student of Kanakadasa College in Vidyanagar.
According to reports, Shravani had secured 71% in the Commerce stream in the II PUC exams. She was said to have aimed for a perfect score and was upset that she did not achieve the expected result.
Family members said she was a bright student. Her father works as an auto driver, and she used to stay at her grandparents’ house to focus on her studies. She had set a target of scoring 600 out of 600 and had even expressed this goal publicly.
After the results were announced, she reportedly did not speak to anyone and later took the extreme step, her uncle Maruti said.
