Ravish Kumar awarded first 'Gauri Lankesh Award' in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: Senior Journalist and Executive Editor of NDTV, Ravish Kumar was on Sunday conferred the ‘Gauri Lankesh Award for Journalism’ in a ceremony held at St. Joseph College in the city.
The award was given by Gauri Lankesh memorial trust, and was the first award given by the trust which aims to continue it annually.
Earlier this month, Ravish also received the prestigious Magsaysay Award for Journalism.
Freedom fighter HS Doreswamy, Human Rights Activist Teesta Stelvad, Journalist D Umapathi and others were present during the event.

UP: Blood-soaked body of elderly man found in Hathras
Hathras (UP) (PTI): The blood-soaked body of an elderly man was found inside his house in Paharpur village here on Tuesday morning, police said.
The deceased, Jagdish Prasad Sharma, 75, who lived alone, had gone to sleep in his house on Monday night, officials said.
On Tuesday morning, his blood-soaked body was lying on a cot, with marks on his head and body indicating blows from a sharp-edged weapon, they said, adding that the police suspect murder.
Police and forensic teams reached the spot upon receiving information and sent the body for a post-mortem, they said.
Additional Superintendent of Police Ramanand Kushwaha said that Sharma, a retired Health Department employee, had been living alone since his wife's death during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He owned around 20-25 bighas of land and was also engaged in money lending, the officer said.
