Bengaluru: In the wake of low-pressure conditions developing over the Arabian Sea, the Indian Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall across several parts of Karnataka from May 27 to May 30. A red alert has been issued for six districts in the coastal and hilly regions of the state.
The districts under red alert include Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, and Shivamogga. These areas are expected to receive extremely heavy rainfall over the next four days.
Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for Belagavi, Bidar, and Kalaburagi districts, where isolated heavy showers are likely. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been declared for Yadgir, Bagalkot, and Hassan districts due to the forecast of moderate rainfall.
The Meteorological Department has also predicted light to moderate showers in southern interior Karnataka, including Bengaluru, during this period. Authorities have urged residents in affected regions to remain cautious and follow safety advisories issued by local administrations.
