Sakaleshpura, September 16: Police arrested seven persons on charges of assaulting a person after stopping his vehicle carrying cattle after setting ablaze tyres and misbehaving with the police, here on Sunday.

The arrested are identified as Raghu, Jipsy Shivu, Jeevan, Deepu, Ravi Kumar, Suresh and Pawan.

Bajrang Dal activists stopped the vehicle carrying cattle in a lorry at Donigal in the taluk on Friday early morning and alleging that the police have been supporting them to transport the cattle. Later, they set ablaze tyres and blocked the road for almost one hour. They engaged in verbal duals with the police and misbehaved with them, it is said.

Sakaleshpura police registered a case and investigating it.
