Bengaluru, Dec 13: Woman and Child Welfare department Minister Dr. Jayamala said that provisions would be made in the next Budget to give uniforms to Anganwadi children from next academic year.
Responding to the question of MLC Veena Achaiah in the Legislative Council on Thursday, she said that the Chief Minister has responded positively to the proposal of giving uniforms to Anganwadi children from next academic year. So, it would be included in the next budget. Since the seven months pregnant women find it difficult to come to anganwadis to have food under Mathru Poorna scheme, kits would be supplied to their homes directly, she said.
Veena Achaiah said that under Udyoga scheme, total 40 women have got training in tailoring and they should be given opportunity to stitch school uniforms. Total six gram panchayats have incurred losses due to drought and 35 villages due to flood in Kodagu district and such villages should be considered as special cases and issue BPL cards instead of APL cards to them, she demanded.
Reacting to it, Jayamala said that the state government has taken special interest for the development of Kodagu district. It has implemented micro loan, Samrudhi scheme and others and she would discuss with the concerned minister to give BPL cards, she said.

Ranchi: Champai Soren, a prominent figure in Jharkhand’s statehood movement, is contesting the 2024 assembly elections from Seraikela, a seat he has consistently held since 1991.
However, there is a surprising shift in his political journey this year. Having resigned from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) earlier this year, Soren is now representing the BJP, a move that could significantly impact the electoral dynamics in the state.
Soren’s switiching is seen as a strategic benefit for the saffron party, which has been working to expand its appeal among Jharkhand’s tribal communities, a demographic traditionally aligned with the JMM. His departure from the JMM, led by Shibu Soren and his son Hemant Soren, was fueled by dissatisfaction with the state government’s policies, which he claimed had failed to address tribal concerns.
Also known as "Jharkhand’s Tiger" for his instrumental role in the statehood movement of the 1990s, Champai Soren has respect and influence among tribal voters. His decision to switch the party could be a turning point in the BJP’s efforts to gain a stronger hold in a state where tribal votes often decide the outcome.
