Setback to BJP, Top court rejects Janardhana Reddy's plea to allow him campaign in Bellary
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday rejected the Janardhana Reddy's plea to allow him to campaign in Bellary district for his younger brother, who is a BJP candidate, for the May 12 Karnataka Assembly elections.
A Bench led by Justice A.K. Sikri rejected the request of Mr. Reddy, who is out in bail in a corruption and illegal mining case.
Reddy wanted to campaign for two days - May 8 and 9 - in Bellary for his younger brother Somasekhara Reddy. He also wanted permission to cast his vote in Bellary on the voting day.

Minor girl kidnapped and raped; main accused and two cafe owners held
Latur (PTI): A minor girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by an 18-year-old man in Latur, leading to the arrest of the main accused and owners of two cafes where the crime occurred on December 4, police said on Saturday.
Police traced the girl within hours of registering the complaint. The accused, identified as Rihan Gulab Shaikh, was arrested based on the girl's complaint. Two others are owners of two cafes where the crime occurred, police said.
Police registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), POCSO Act, and the Prevention of Atrocities Act, an official said.
