Mangaluru: Police have arrested five persons including Aban (30) who allegedly sexually assaulted three mentally impaired minor girls for two years.

Three sisters aged 16, 17, and 18, from Udayagiri police limits, were sexually abused in different places. The crime was exposed with the initiative of Odanadi Seva—a Mysuru-based NGO.

According to the NGO, all the three girls who belonged to an economically backward family were pushed into prostitution.

The arrested took them to Bengaluru, Mangaluru, and Mandya and sexually abused the girls. Following a complaint from their family members, police tracked down the victims and brought them to Odanadi Samsthe for counseling. During the counseling session, the girls provided details of the abusers.

According to police, one of the victims was asked to call the mastermind from Mangaluru. When he reached the city to meet her, Mangaluru City police arrested him.
