Shivamogga: Boy dies in wall collapse
District administration gives Rs 5 lakh compensation
Shivamogga, August 16: A four-year-old boy died when the wall of a house collapsed on him at Konandur KEB road in Thirthahalli taluk on Thursday morning.
The deceased boy is identified as Masood, son of labourer Ayub. MLA Araga Jnanendra, Deputy Commissioner Dayanand, SP Abhinav Khare and other senior officers visited the spot and reviewed the situation.
Within a few hours of the incident, the district administration has disbursed a cheque of Rs 5 lakh as compensation to the family of the boy. Deputy Commissioner Dayanand gave away the cheque to the family members and promised of sanctioning all facilities being given by the government.
Konandur and surrounding places are receiving heavy rains. As a result, the wall of Ayub’s house was drenched in the water. While drinking tea in the morning, the wall suddenly collapsed on the body killing him on the spot. The family members were shocked due to sudden incident.

Jharkhand: 3 arrested for 'raping' 2 women in Gumla
Gumla (PTI): Three persons were arrested on Monday for allegedly raping two women at a village in Jharkhand’s Gumla district, police said.
All the three accused have been remanded to judicial custody, Gumla Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge, Mahendra Karmali, told PTI.
According to police, one of the women had been called to Gumla Sadar by her boyfriend on Sunday for an outing.
“She arrived at the spot accompanied by a female. The woman’s boyfriend then called a friend, and they took the two women to a secluded place in Sisai police station area in the evening, forcibly made them consume alcohol before raping them,” the officer said.
The accused later called another man to the spot, who also allegedly raped the women, he said.
“The women later reached the Sadar Police Station and lodged a complaint on Sunday night. Police conducted raids and nabbed the three accused on Monday,” he added.
Further investigation is underway.
