Shivamogga: Police raid illegal gun-making unit, one arrested
Shivamogga: Police have raided a workshop where guns were being made illegally and arrested one person in Shikaripura town of Shivamogga district.
The arrested person has been identified as Lakshmanappa, a resident of 3rd Cross, Bhadrapur village, Shikaripura Pattana, working as a carpenter.
Police said Lakshmanappa was making guns illegally in an old house located next to his home. The police received information about this illegal activity on February 4.
Based on this information, a police team raided the house and found guns being manufactured there. During the raid, the police seized seven single-barrel guns and other materials used to make the weapons.
Lakshmanappa was arrested and later produced before a court, which sent him to judicial custody.
The raid was carried out under the guidance of Shikaripura Sub-Division Deputy Superintendent of Police Keshav K.E., along with Shikaripura City Circle CPI Santosh M. Patil, PSI Sharath H., and staff members Kotreshappa, Pradeep K., Nagaraj, Ravi Nayaka, and Ravikumar.

Defamatory post against Dharmasthala Veerendra Heggade: Case registered against Girish Mattannavar
Belthangady: A case has been registered at Dharmasthala police station against Girish Mattannavar over a complaint regarding alleged defamatory posts on social media against Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala.
The complaint was filed by Subrahmanya Prasad, a resident of Dharmasthala.
The complainant stated that Mattannavar posted content on Instagram making allegations against Dr. Heggade and allegedly affecting his reputation.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered under Section 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which is related to spreading false information, rumours, or alarming news, on April 18, and the investigation is in progress.
Following information about Mattannavar’s appearance at the SIT office on May 7, a police officer from Dharmasthala police station issued a notice directing him to appear at the station within a week.
