Bengaluru, July 30: The SIT probe being conducted into the murder case of journalist Gauri Lankesh might reach its logical end, if the investigating officials traced another accused who is believed to have the pistol used to kill Gauri, sources said.
The miscreants had shot Gauri Lankesh near her house at Rajarajeshwari Nagar in the city on September 5, 2017. Since then, the SIT officials have been trying to trace the pistol and bike used to kill Gauri. But with the arrest of main accused, the SIT officials have collected important clues.
With the arrest of main accused who shot Gauri, Parashuram Waghmore of Vijayapura, Ganesh Miskin of Hubballi and Amith Baddi, the SIT officials have got the information that another accused who is absconding, has the pistol. After killing Gauri, all the four accused were there in a house at Seegehalli in the city. After some time, when one accused left the house with the pistol, remaining three reached their houses in a car, it is said.
In the same way, another accused Amol Kale of Maharashtra was near Yeshwanthpur cross on that day. HL Ganesh of Tumkur had burnt the cloths of the accused to destroy the evidences. It is said that the name of the last accused is called ‘Dada’. If Dada is arrested, the investigation into the Gauri Lankesh murder would reach logical end, the sources said.

Chennai (PTI): Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer was fined Rs 24 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during his team’s IPL 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium here.
The last season's runners-up PBKS secured their second sucessive win, defeating five-time champions Chennai Super Kings by five wickets here on Friday.
As this was Punjab Kings’ second offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which relates to minimum over-rate violations, the penalty was enhanced and Iyer was fined Rs 24 lakh, said the IPL media advisory.
"The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, will be fined either INR six lakhs or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser," it added.
