Bengaluru, May 5: After joining BJP in last March, former chief minister and former union minister SM Krishna has shared the stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at an election rally in Bengaluru on Thursday. But the situation was totally different at his home town Madduru, 65 km away from Bengaluru.
Majority of Krishna’s followers and relatives who have embraced BJP along with their leader, have deserted the BJP a week before and rejoined the Congress alleging that they were neglected by the BJP leadership. Along with Maddur taluk BJP president Lakshman Kumar, the taluk BJP office opened for the first time in the taluk is also closed. After denying the ticket to him, Kumar has resigned from the party on April 28. As the party office was closed in Maddur, the party candidate Sathish is in fix. All photos including party chief ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa and party candidate Sathish and party symbols were removed from the office. Now, the Congress flag is flying in the office. Now, BJP candidate Sathish has opened an office near his home.
He was assured BJP ticket for Maddur constituency. But the BJP has given the ticket to Sathish. Despite his opposition, no one has responded to it. So he has rejoined the Congress, Lakshman said.
When Krishna deserted the Congress, his relative Gurucharan was also left the Congress and joined BJP along with his uncle. After deserting the Congress, they have decided to be neutral. When Krishna shared stage with Modi, the BJP leaders did not contact them due to which they have rejoined the Congress. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has personally invited him to join the Congress. So he and his supporters have rejoined the Congress, he said.
