Bengaluru, Dec 16: A software engineer stabbed a 42-year-old shopkeeper to death over a silly issue in the limits of Mahalaxmi Layout in the city.
The victim has been identified as Manjunath, a resident of JC Nagar pipeline, while the accused is Akash of Rajajinagar.
The incident occurred when Akash, an employee of a private company in Maratahalli, was returning home. Meanwhile, Condiments shop owner Manjunath was pouring water in front of his shop. Akash bike skid off the road near Manjunath's shop. When the shopkeeper came forward to help Akash in getting set, Akash alleged that his bike got skid due to Manjunath. Consequently, a minor altercation took place and Akash, with a lethal weapon, stabbed Manjunath to death.
Later, Manjunath's brother Manoj attacked Akash and hurt him with a knife. Manoj has also suffered injuries reportedly. All the three were hospitalised for the treatment, but Manjunath could not respond to the treatment and breathed his last.
Mahalaxmi Layout police have visited the spot, and the investigation is on.

Kolkata (PTI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's unscheduled stop to buy ‘jhalmuri’ during poll campaigning was "drama".
Her comment came a day after Modi made a pit stop during his campaign tour in Jhargram to buy ‘jhalmuri’, a popular Bengali street food made of puffed rice, green chillies, and other spices.
"It's all drama. How come a camera was present when the Prime Minister suddenly made an unscheduled stop during the campaign? The entire episode was scripted. He was seen carrying a Rs 10 note in his pocket. Is it believable?" Banerjee said without naming Modi.
The TMC supremo was addressing a poll rally in Murarai assembly constituency in Birbhumm district.
