Bengaluru: The state government appointed IAS officer Vasanthi Amar BV as the Special Deputy Commissioner of Railway Infrastructure Development Company Karnataka (K-RIDE) on Monday, adding that the officer will take charge with immediate effect.

K-RIDE, a joint venture between Karnataka and Indian Railways, is a special purpose vehicle meant to implement the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP).

Vasanthi, who is a 2017-batch officer, was reportedly waiting for a posting, prior to which, she was special deputy commissioner-3, Bengaluru Urban District (North), according to a report in Deccan Herald.

Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya is learned to have pointed out that the need to ensure effective management of K-RIDE and also timely completion of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project and urged the Karnataka government to appoint an officer as full-time managing director for K-RIDE.

The current MD of K-RIDE, Manjula N, is also Secretary of the Infrastructure Development, Ports and Inland Water Transport Department.

Jaipur (PTI): The Enforcement Directorate has arrested former Rajasthan MLA Baljit Yadav on money laundering charges linked to an alleged funds embezzlement case, official sources said on Wednesday.

The former independent legislator from the Behror assembly seat was taken into custody under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on Tuesday, they said.

The case is related to alleged embezzlement of MLA funds in the guise of supply of sports equipment to schools, according to ED officials.

The federal agency had conducted searches against Yadav in January last year.
