Bengaluru: Rajya Sabha member Sudha Murty has issued a public warning against fake and deepfake videos circulating on social media platforms that misuse her image and voice to promote fraudulent financial schemes and investment opportunities.

Clarifying that the videos were created without her knowledge or consent, Sudha Murthy cautioned people against taking any financial decisions based on such content.

In a post on X, she said, “I want to alert you to fake videos circulating online that falsely use my image and voice to promote financial schemes and investments. These are deepfakes created without my knowledge or consent.”

“Please do not make any financial decisions based on these fraudulent videos. I urge you to verify information through official channels and report any such content you encounter. Stay vigilant and stay safe. Jai Hind!” she added.

Sudha Murty also pointed out that, as the Chairperson of the Murty Trust, she is not permitted to speak about investments or money-related matters, as per established rules.

Expressing distress over the misuse of her identity, she said it was “painful and disturbing” to see multiple fake videos circulating simultaneously on platforms like Facebook, falsely claiming that investing amounts such as 200 dollar or Rs 20,000 could yield returns many times over.

“Such fake news is spreading widely. I know that many people have already lost money by investing in these schemes,” she said, appealing to the public not to believe messages related to financial transactions being circulated in her name.

Making an appeal, Sudha Murty said, “With folded hands, I request everyone not to believe any financial transactions that come in my name. This is completely fake news. Do not lose your hard-earned money out of greed. They trap people using false promises. Please do not fall prey to it.”

Chennai: Actor-politician Vijay has reportedly not been invited to take oath as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu after failing to demonstrate support from the required number of MLAs, sources in Raj Bhavan said.

According to media reports that quoted sources in the office of R.N. Ravi Arlekar, Vijay could not prove the backing of 118 legislators, the majority mark in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly.

Despite last-minute efforts to secure support from the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazagam (AMMK), and an IUML legislator, Vijay reportedly managed support from only 116 MLAs, falling short by two members.

Sources said Vijay failed to submit letters of support from the VCK and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).

Later, the IUML issued a statement clarifying that it was not part of the TVK-led alliance.

Meanwhile, AMMK leader T.T.V. Dhinakaran is also said to have informed the Governor that his party would support the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) instead.

Earlier in the evening, Vijay had met Governor Arlekar and staked claim to form the government, stating that he enjoyed the support of 118 MLAs.
